May Day

Happy May Day--while this isn't an official U.S. Holiday May 1st has traditions around the world.
In the U.S.--children often make May baskets to secretly deliver.

In Europe--May day celebrates the coming spring. Traditionally, youths delivered flower garlands to each house in the village. A maypole was erected in the center of the village and ribbons secured to the top. Dancers would weave the ribbons around the pole.

In the 1800's May 1st became a labor holiday around the world particularly in communist and socialist countires.
