This comes up far more often than I expect. Just this morning I had to explain to a senior how to find the book he needed on the shelf. The library is organized in a specific manner using the Dewey Decimal System.
000 General Works
100 Philosophy & Psychology
200 Religion
300 Social Sciences
400 Languages
500 Natural Sciences (and Math)
600 Applied Sciences(and Technology)
700 Fine Arts and Recreation
800 Literature
900 History & Geography
On the side of each book is a label with a number in one of these ranges followed by three letters which usually matches the authors last name.
Look around the MHS library and you will see the Dewey ranges for the rows painted on the ends of the aisles.
