It's a set of books that are regularly checked out and have a lot of positive press, so I finally took time to read the first one. Set in a British finishing school in 1895, Gemma has been sent there after her mother is killed in India. Gemma discovers that she has magical powers that can transform her life in ways that she may not be able to handle.
