Muchacho by Louanne Johnson--I admit being a fan of Johnson's writing from her first nonfiction book titled
My posses don't do homework which was later adapted into the movie Dangerous Minds, so I went into the book expecting to like it. I wasn't disappointed. Johnson captures the voice of Eddie Corazon as a continutation school student who is smarter than he wants the world to know. Until he meets Lupe, she begins to bring out the best in him and make him reevaluate where he wants to go with his life.
