If you owe fines at the PUBLIC library: read on!
Teen Amnesty Event
As part of Teen Read Week, Santa Clara County Library will be hosting a week-long amnesty event for teens. Anyone between 12 and 19 years of age can have their overdue fines waived by visiting the library during Teen Read Week, Oct. 17th – 23rd, 2010 and completing a simple survey. The Library’s goal is to encourage teens to return their outstanding materials and give them an opportunity to take advantage of all the library has to offer. The long-term impact of providing teens with a clean slate will hopefully be an increase in teen reading. There is no limit to the amount that can be waived, but no waives will be issued over the phone or by e-mail – teens must come in to the library. For teens who may have lost their library card, free replacement cards will be issued during this event.
Fines from the following libraries can be waived: Campbell Library, Cupertino Library, Gilroy Library, Los Altos Library, Milpitas Library, Morgan Hill Library, Saratoga Library, Woodland Branch Library and the Bookmobile.
What charges can be waived?
Overdue fines
Processing charges for materials that have been returned Note: Items that are more than 6 months overdue may not be returned for a waive.
The following charges are not eligible for a waive:
Lost or damaged materials
ILL fees
Rebilling fees (only applies to individuals 18+)
